The PAPER STREET Podcast

Mar 29, 2020

On this installment of The PAPER STREET Podcast, in the wake of Cannes and dozens of film festivals being postponed (and some cancelled completely) due to COVID-19, Becky and Shawn discuss what happens to films without a premiere. With no exposure or screening buzz, the hustle to sell your independent film just got tougher. They touch on some unexpected side effects of the current social distancing as well, including movie studios releasing a handful of their theatrical releases directly to digital, and productive ways for creators to manage some of their newfound free time.

Filmmaker BJ Colangelo joins the program to talk about her new film POWERBOMB (available On Demand as of April 14th), the trials and tribulations of getting it financed and produced, working with real wrestlers, and the challenges she’s faced in multiple arenas because she doesn’t “fit the mold.” The hosts also play a round of Not-So-Rapid Fire 15 with BJ, and she knocks it out of the park (come for the answer to her favorite horror franchise, stay for the hot takes on KISS and Star Wars). All that, plus Becky’s Deep Cut Slasher of the Week, what genre stuff they showed their kids, and more!
